Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I receiving Access Request window requests?

The Access Request window notifies you that other Atakama-enabled computers have been detected in a cloud or network share location. The Access Request window allows you to control which computers should have access to the shared location. Computers can be approved for access by clicking the “Grant Access” button.

What is a shared location?

A shared location is a cloud or network folder that has been designated as the location where multiple Atakama-enabled computers will share Atakama-encrypted files.

What does the Grant Access button do?

The Grant Access button ensures that only authorized Atakama-enabled computers have access to newly added Atakama-encrypted files in the shared location. Additional action is required if the shared location already contains Atakama-encrypted files at the time of approval. In this circumstance, the  Provide Access window should appear to guide you through the next steps.

What happens if a cloud or network share location already contains Atakama-encrypted files when another Atakama-enabled computer is approved to access the location?

You will receive the Provide Access window pop-up when an Atakama-encrypted computer is approved to access a shared location that already contains Atakama-encrypted files. You can use the Provide Access window to resolve any issues with file access by explicitly sharing specific files.
