Completely remove Atakama on macOS

Completely removing Atakama involves uninstalling the application and then deleting any remaining configuration files.

This article applies to: macOS 10.12 (Sierra), macOS 10.13 (High Sierra), macOS 10.14 (Mojave), and macOS 10.15 (Catalina).

To remove Atakama:

  1. Make sure that your protected files have been removed from your Atakama drive before uninstalling.
  2. To remove the Atakama application, open your Applications folder, then look for Atakama and move it to the Trash.
  3. To remove any remaining configuration files, first navigate to your Home directory. With Finder in the foreground, select Go in the menu bar and then choose Home.
  4. Look for the hidden folder named .atakama and move it to the Trash. Hidden folders appear "faded out" compared to regular folders. If you don't see these types of items in this location, press Command + Shift + . (period) together to make them appear. You can hit the same keys again later to hide them from view again.
  5. Next, look for the file in this same location named atakama.config and move it to the Trash.
  6. Empty Trash.
